Potassium 4-methoxysalicylate is a cationic surfactant that is used to remove excess oil from the skin. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, which is involved in the production of melanin. Potassium 4-methoxysalicylate also has an inhibitory effect on collagen gel, and can be used for the treatment of acne vulgaris. The drug also binds to calcium pantothenate and sodium citrate to form a viscosity-increasing agent.
